Dr. Jeremy Schmoe, DC DACNB FACFN FABBIR
Director & Founder of The FNC
Dr. Schmoe is the founder and director of The Functional Neurology Center. Over the past 15 years he has been working with patients with complex neurological dysfunction. He manages patients from all over the country as well as international.
He has treated thousands of patients with head injuries, vertigo, dysautonomia, dizziness, movement disorders, neuro-degenerative and developmental disorders. He treats patients of all ages.
He enjoys seeing the most complex cases Integrating neuro-rehab, manual therapy, lab work and nutrition. He has completed extensive post graduate training in functional neurology, neuroimmunology and functional medicine.
Dr. Ryan Harvey was raised in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, a small coastal town on the Gulf of Mexico. He is a dedicated to empowering others through their health journey. Dr. Harvey received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Mississippi in Biological Science with a minor in Chemistry.
While at Ole Miss, he worked at The Center for Water and Wetland Resources, a 740-acre research facility in the lower Mississippi River Basin, where he developed a passion for wetland conservation and stewardship. He then went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude with his Doctorate of Chiropractic from Life University in Atlanta, GA.
While at Life University, Dr. Harvey interned at the Neuro Life Institute, Life University’s on-campus Functional Neurology clinic, where he contributed to an ongoing research project evaluating the effects of applied clinical neuroscience care on self-reported symptoms of depression in adults with medication-resistant depression.
Dr. Harvey has studied 1,000 plus hours of post-graduate clinical neuroscience and is proud to have his core training from the Carrick Institute of Graduate Studies. He dedicates his time to help those afflicted with post-concussion symptoms, dizziness, TBI, Dysautonomia, and many other complex neurological dysfunctions.
Dr. Harvey is a lover of the outdoors and can be found hiking, fishing, golfing, and traveling in his free time. He spent the summer of 2021 in remote western Alaska as a fly-fishing guide in one of the last untouched Silver Salmon fisheries in the world.Recently, Ryan married his high school sweetheart and they enjoy walks with their small rescue dog, Finley.
Dr. Joe Xing PHD is a Stanford University- and CERN-trained Physicist and AI technologist who has a unique background in theoretical physics, deep learning, and AI. His work focuses on applying multimodal AI and foundation models to neurodegenerative and neuromodulation-related conditions, integrating medical imaging, clinical text data, gait and movement analysis, and 3D biochemical and genetic information. Joe brings deep expertise in translating complex, heterogeneous data into interpretable insights and, as an Advisor for AI and Data Science at the Functional Neurology Center, contributes to advancing data-driven clinical research and personalized, evidence-based decision support.
Dr. Alexis Romas is from the small historic town of Brookeville, Maryland. She attended Towson University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Deaf Studies.
This unique academic background reflects a deep commitment to understanding the complexities of the human body and fostering clear communication with patients from different backgrounds. While at Towson University, Dr. Romas was also part of a research team studying axolotl salamanders, investigating their regenerative properties by altering their gene responses. The study of regeneration and complex biological systems laid the groundwork for her understanding of the nervous system’s incredible capacity for adaptation and recovery. Dr. Romas then went to Life University, where she graduated summa cum laude with her Doctorate of Chiropractic.
While at Life University, Dr. Romas gained invaluable experience interning at the Georgia Chiropractic Neurology Center. This experience solidified a passion for helping patients with a wide range of neurological conditions, including post-concussion syndrome, autonomic dysfunctions, traumatic brain injuries, and other neurological dysfunctions. She has also completed countless hours of advanced training in clinical neuroscience in the Carrick Institute of Graduate Studies.
Dr. Romas has dedicated her professional journey to the principles of functional neurology, using a holistic, brain-based approach to identify the root cause of symptoms and empower patients on their path to recovery. Before joining our team, Dr. Romas honed her skills at Life Chiropractic in Olney, Maryland. This hands-on experience provided a strong foundation in providing patient-centered care and further ignited her passion for helping individuals achieve their health goals through chiropractic.
Beyond the clinic, Dr. Romas enjoys spending time outdoors, with a particular passion for hiking and running. She is also an avid reader, always seeking to expand her knowledge and find new perspectives. These hobbies embody Dr. Romas’s belief in the importance of continuous growth, both personally and professionally.
Dr. Rachel Mischel, a Bismarck, North Dakota native, was raised in a family of athletes and developed a lifelong passion for sports. Throughout high school, she excelled in volleyball, basketball, and fast-pitch softball, earning multiple awards and titles for her athletic achievements. Unfortunately, her athletic pursuits also led to injuries, including several concussions. Her path to recovery began with chiropractic care, igniting her interest in the field. After a particularly challenging concussion recovery, her mother introduced her to The Functional Neurology Center. There, she completed a five-day intensive program that significantly accelerated her recovery from post-concussion syndrome, allowing her to return to school and sports symptom-free. This experience inspired her to pursue a career in functional neurology.
Dr. Mischel’s journey has been highlighted in Brain Health Magazine, as well as on the Faces of TBI podcast and the Brain Health Summit, where she shared her story and expertise.
Dr. Mischel graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Mary with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Minor in Chemistry. During her time there, she was also a member of the Emerging Leaders Academy. She went on to earn her Doctorate of Chiropractic with an emphasis in Sports and Rehabilitation from Northwestern Health Sciences University, where she graduated as Valedictorian. At NWHSU, she served as president of the Functional Neurology Club and completed an internship with Dr. Schmoe, gaining advanced experience in diagnosing and treating complex neurological conditions. She has completed extensive training in clinical neuroscience through the Carrick Institute of Graduate Studies. She is dedicated to treating individuals with post-concussion syndrome, traumatic brain injuries, complex dizziness, autonomic dysfunction, and other complex neurological dysfunctions.
Dr. Mischel’s personal experience as a functional neurology patient enhances her empathy and ability to connect deeply with her patients. Today, she continues to participate in volleyball and softball leagues, made possible by chiropractic and functional neurology care. She can often be found on the court, field, or in the gym, playing, coaching, or enjoying the outdoors, embracing the Midwest’s ever-changing seasons.
Office Coordinator
Ashley is one of the first people you will meet at The FNC. Ashley has a teaching background and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education from the University of Minnesota Duluth. She also has a Master’s degree in Teaching and Learning from Saint Mary’s University. Her experience in teaching and her passion for holistic health due to Lyme disease have to lead her to The FNC. Ashley’s health adventures have given her an understanding and compassion for others as well as shown her that there is hope! In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband and family, as well as traveling.
Jordan is director of clinical performance and will be highly involved in our neurological sports performance program and coordinating our FNC neuro brain injury and concussion programs.
Jordan received his Bachelors of Science Degree in golf management, from Ferris State University. He has been in the golf and personal training industry for 10-plus years.
Jordan has worked with hundreds of clients trying to make them a better version of themselves, through golf or personal training.
Jordan has done work outside of golf and personal training and dove into neurology, which led him to The FNC. This work has helped him bridge the gap between how the brain functions and how that can relate to golf and personal training.
In his free time, you can find him golfing tournaments or bow hunting.
Dr. Erin Anderson joins our team at the FNC with 5 years of clinical experience. She is a Chiropractor, Certified MFT Practitioner, Intuitive Energetic Healer, Light Worker, and Truth Seeker that provides life-changing and life altering care to her clients. She will using her skills as the Office Manager at the FNC helping our center run as efficiently as possible to ensure all patients get the best results with our neuro-recovery programs.
She graduated Valedictorian from Life University, Marietta GA in 2015.
She blends her background of the healing arts {Chiropractic} with the energy of the energetic field {Morphogenic Field Technique} to help her patients achieve optimal health.
She inspires others to live life to their fullest by helping them realize that all the answers are within.
She helps her clients uncover their true potential by acknowledging both the physical and emotional bodies. She has a 6 month old daughter named Willow and she is married to Dr. Schmoe, the founder of theFNC.
