Our unique approach of assessing all things neurological, structural and metabolic can uncover issues that may have been missed by other providers and that could make all the difference in your recovery. Whether you have already sought help for your condition in the past or are ready to reach out for help for the first time, there are four ways to begin your personal neuro-recovery program at The FNC:
A 90-minute exam to diagnose and identify the contributing factors of your condition.
Neuro-Exam plus report of findings and a one-on-one therapy session with your doctor.
A 5, 8 or 10-day Personalized Neuro-Recovery Program entirely customized to your needs.
Post-Intensive, at home programs and in clinic 'tune-up' visits for local patients.
Your rehabilitation experience starts with a Neuro-Exam that looks at your personal history as well as the Six Key Systems involved in brain health: Cognitive, Pain, Ocular Motor, Autonomic, Proprioceptive, and Vestibular. By assessing these systems, we can identify the areas of your brain suffering from injury or trauma. Your Neuro-Exam is a one-hour exam to diagnose and identify the contributing factors of your condition. If you elect to stay for a full Discovery Day, the exam will be followed up with a one-on-one therapy session with your doctor. Most people who join us for a Discovery Day go on to book a full Intensive Program.
Arising from the Frontal Lobe, cognitive dysfunction can be expressed as brain fog, fatigue, lack of endurance, anxiety, and depression. Using diagnostic technologies like Brain EQ we can identify dysfunction in the frontal lobe.
The Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) is regulated by the hypothalamus and Brain Stem acting mostly unconsciously to regulate functions like heart rate, digestion, respiratory rate, and pupillary response. Tilt Table Testing along with looking at your heart rate variability, blood pressure, and pupils can help assess if there's dysfunction in the ANS.
Every brain region is involved with vision, and normal visual perception requires a functioning Ocular Motor Systems to control the position and movement of the eyes to focus. By using tools like Videonystagmograpy (VNG) and Right Eye, we can review aberrant eye movements to identify areas of brain dysfunction.
Pain is processed in your Frontal Lobe and Limbic Region of the brain. Even emotional connections tied to pain can contribute to your symptoms. Your initial Bedside Exam on day one will give your Doctor the information they need to help resolve your physical pain and enable you to do the rehab you need.
Influenced by the Cerebellum, proprioception is your sense of movement and body position in space. Affecting voluntary movements such as posture, balance, coordination, and even speech. Tests like the Computerized Dynamic Posturography, or ‘balance board,' help uncover if there are issues in your proprioception vs. vestibular.
The vestibular nuclei, located in the brain stem, can become affected with brain trauma, causing dizziness, vertigo, and imbalance. You may even feel like there is a boat in your brain. Diagnostics tests you may take if you have these side effects are VNG, Right Eye, and the D2 lightboard amongst others.
If you’ve had it with your symptoms, lack of answers from other providers and are ready to find hope again then an Intensive Program is for you. We’ll begin by diving into your Neuro-Exam to uncover the root causes of your symptoms and get you started on the road to recovery on Day one. Working with a small team of doctors, you’ll be supported and guided through 5, 8 or 10-days of world-class care using high-tech therapies in an emotionally supportive environment.
Because your Intensive Program is entirely customized to your needs each person's experience will vary slightly, but on average daily schedules will consist of two to three therapy sessions taking place between 9:00 am - 5:00 pm and average up to 15 hours of therapy throughout the week.
The week begins with a Neuro-Exam: diagnostic tests, report of findings, and upon reviewing your results, your personalized neuro-recovery program is created.
Now it’s time for your initial therapy session, to make improvements to your condition and leave you with a sense of progress and accomplishment.
Up to three one-hour session
You'll arrive in the morning and begin your first of three one hour therapy sessions.
Throughout the day, you'll be working one on one with your doctors to execute your personalized therapy program based off your day one diagnostics and report of findings.
Up to three one-hour session
Midweek is similar to day 2, but with the added excitement of repeating your diagnostics to highlight what has improved and adjust your program accordingly.
Therapy is continued, and the day ends with a calming recovery session.
Up to three one-hour session
With your program having been refined mid-week, you'll come into day four to a refreshed therapy experience and spend the day working with your Doctor towards your recovery.
Up to three one-hour session
Last but not least, on your final day, we'll rerun your diagnostic assessments from day one, as needed to map out your progress.
Then on to your final therapy session before diving into your at-home program development and training.
Up to two one-hour sessions
Your therapy won’t stop when you go home. After your 5, 8 or 10-day Intensive Program, you’ll have two months of at-home support and an app to help you track ongoing improvement and symptoms and function.
After your Intensive Program and two months of at home support you may still want to continue getting ‘tune up’ therapy. Once your recovery plan has been completed you can talk with your doctor about the options available to you and your condition for additional visits and therapy.
Based on your individual condition and needs, you’ll work directly with a small dedicated team of Doctors, working together for the full duration of your therapy program. During this time, it’s essential to be open and trusting with your doctors, knowing they are with you every step of the way. This relationship, coupled with your motivation and commitment to your recovery is the ultimate key to success.
