Dr. Erik Reis is a Chiropractic Physician and board-certified Chiropractic Neurologist at The Functional Neurology Center in Minnetonka, MN. He received his Doctorate in Chiropractic from Northwestern Health Sciences University, graduating with magna cum laude honors, and graduated from the University of Minnesota with his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology/Exercise Science with an emphasis in human motor performance in both athletic and therapeutic settings.
Dr. Reis currently holds a diplomate in neurology from the American Chiropractic Neurology Board and is a Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) with the Brain Injury Association of America. He has completed numerous hours of additional post-graduate coursework utilizing clinical applications and therapeutic interventions in the neurological and nutritional rehabilitation of traumatic brain injuries, concussions, and vestibular disorders through the Carrick Institute of Clinical Neuroscience
At theFNC, his practice primarily focuses on treating complex neurological disorders that range from traumatic brain injuries (TBI’s), dysautonomia, sport-related concussions, vestibular-related disorders (Vertigo/Dizziness), complex regional pain syndromes (CRPS), headaches/migraines, and chronic pain syndromes. His treatments focus on individualized neurological rehabilitation protocols aimed at increasing physiologic function through sensorimotor training and neuro-orthopedic exercises.
He emphasizes pain management and improving movement by utilizing corrective exercises, gait retaining protocols, and individualized neuro-muscular training programs fit for the specific needs of his patients. He also utilizes comprehensive nutritional and metabolic testing to address potentially limiting dysfunctions of the immune, endocrine, and nervous systems.
Dr. Reis believes the connection between neurological function and nutritional status is essential to understanding how to fully maximize brain function, which is why he takes a multifaceted approach to improving the brain health and overall wellness.
He prioritizes spending extra time building trusting relationships for the benefit of the patient and is willing to take the extra step(s) to ensure the highest quality of patient satisfaction for greater clinical outcomes.
He recognizes the importance of education, which is why he is continuously teaching his patients about their overall health and wellness to provide the necessary knowledge and understanding to be able to take control of their health when away from the office.
In his spare time, Dr. Reis enjoys playing lead/rhythm guitar for his band “The Night Caps”, participating in competitive recreational sports, and spending time with his loved ones. He is from Bismarck, North Dakota!
